Esker Lodge Offer Cracking Colts at Inglis Great Southern

Darren and Elizabeth Dance’s Esker Lodge will present three weanlings colts by Capitalist, Toronado (IRE) and Impending, plus three mares at the Inglis Great Southern Sale.

The first lot to head through the ring will be the Impending colt out of the Exceed and Excel mare Keltara and will go through as lot 15.

Keltara is the half-sister to MISSY CUMMINGS, who is the dam of the Victorian-bred MIZZY.

“This colt is a forward-looking colt, and the Impending’s have sold well. He has a lot going for him. Great head, great attitude and correct X-rays,” Darren said.

The next lot to head through will be lot 81, the Capitalist colt out of the More Than Ready mare, More Bubbly.

The mare is a three-time winner, and Darren and Elizabeth are parting with the colt off the back of how strong the market currently is and how in-demand Capitalist’s progeny are at present.

“This is the best time to put a Capitalist on the market given how well he is going as a sire. He is a nice colt and correct. Even though he is a later foal, he has good bone, good leg and a strong hindquarter,” Darren said. “He should be very popular at the sale.”

The mare is the dam of Madame Bolli, who is sired by Written Tycoon and is looking to be a very progressive filly who seems as though she may be city class standard.

The final weanling to head through the ring will be lot 370, a colt sired by Swettenham’s Toronado and out of the Foxwedge mare in Foxlago.

The colt on offer is from the same family as the stakes-mare in ROCKALICIOUS and CANNY LASS.

“Toronado is the pin-up boy in Victoria at the moment as a sire. This colt is a really good specimen, and he will be popular at the sales. He is a lovely colt, good sized and a tremendous walker who just lopes along,” Darren said.

“These weanlings are all headed to the sale as we believe they will make good money given the market. Had I thought about it in a bit more detail, I may have put half a dozen in,” Darren laughs.

On Monday, Darren will present three broodmares at Oaklands Junction.

“We have been growing, and it is a great opportunity for people to capitalise on that growth with purchasing these mares at Oaklands,” Darren said.

“We currently have a band of forty mares, and we want to focus on ensuring we are boutique,” Darren said.

The three mares to head through the ring will be Loves Attention (lot 423), Absolute Puzzle (lot 487) and Chase the Dame (lot 504).

Lot 423, Loves Attention is out of Party Miss. Party Miss is a four-time winner, including a win in her two-year-old career. She is the dam of none other than Yulong’s Champion sire WRITTEN TYCOON.

Loves Attention is also the dam of stakes performed Murt the Flirt.

The next mare to head through the ring will be lot 487, Absolute Puzzle. Absolute Puzzle is out of the Flying Spur mare Without Exception and is in foal to Yulong’s Grunt.

The final mare to head through the ring will be Chase the Dame as lot 504. Chase the Dame is out of the Commands mare in Berengaria, who is the half-sister to THACKERAY and FAIRYTALES. Chase the Dame also includes Group 1 Sires Produces ON THE BUBBLES in her family.
