Leneva Park Seek Strong Results at Great Southern

Media Release - Thursday July 1

Leneva Park is one of Victoria’s newest thoroughbred pre-training and breeding organisation spanning two properties in the heart of Victorian thoroughbred country.

With the 240-acre pre-training property at Longwood now established as one of the best thoroughbred conditioning centres in Australia, attention turns to the breeding arm of the business and the first year of trading for Leneva’s stallion station at Seymour.

In 2021 Leneva Park will stand two stallions, three-time group one winning miler Fierce Impact and the unbeaten Group 1 winning two-year-old by Invincible Spirit, Royal Meeting.

General Manager & Bloodstock Manager at Leneva Park, Michael Sharkie, says that the stallions have been very well received.

“A lot of Victorian breeders have been very keen to see Fierce Impact but also Royal Meeting as during Covid lockdown in 2020 people could not actually get out and lay eyes on him,” Sharkie said.

Royal Meeting is serving his second season at stud, but with few people able to get out to see him in his inaugural season, he has turned heads as a maturing spitting image of his sire, Invincible Spirit.

“He was quite racy when he came off the track to enter stud,” Sharkie explained.

“He is letting down now into an absolutely beautiful animal.

“Bronwen Healy worked a lot with Invincible Spirit in Ireland, so we got her out to take conformation photos of Royal Meeting and she said it is like working with Invincible Spirit’s clone.”

Fierce Impact is serving his first season at stud and is a sire who is already taking the booking’s page by storm for the upcoming season.

“They love Fierce Impact,” Sharkie stated.

“He is a three-time group one winning champion miler; he is obvious value in the Victorian market. He’s building a very strong first season book of mares, we’re adding stakes winners or stakes producing mares nearly daily.”

As we approach the Great Southern Yearling Sales, Leneva Park will be offering a range of beautiful weanlings on behalf of farm clients and will be seeking strong results in a buoyant market.

“We have a No Nay Never colt who is particularly nice,” Sharkie said.

“He is a big strong horse with a good back-end, and stands over ground.

“His full-sister is with Lindsay Park and has won at jump out at Flemington, they think a bit of her.”

Leneva Park will also be offering a beautifully bred broodmare named Shoepeg at the Great Southern Sale, and she will go through the ring in foal to champion sire Lonhro.

Lot 458 Shoepeg is in foal to Lonhro, click to see her page.

“She is a daughter of Sweet Corn, and that family is so consistent,” Sharkie explained.

“There are stakes winners added to the page regularly, it’s just such a good female family. A yearling filly by Impending from the family sold at the Adelaide sale this year at $250,000 so the appeal is obvious for breeders.”

“That cross with Lonhro has a 50% stakes winners to runners, so it’s a very strong cross. We sent her to Lonhro with the sole purpose of furthering the cross, we think there is great value in the package.”
