Capitalist will have to wait for another day to post his 20th first crop winner after his two year-old filly Girl Mania came up short at Kembla on Thursday against the Joe Pride trained Rubick filly Rubinocchi.
Unplaced on debut at Kembla back in January when she did plenty wrong, it was a much more tractable filly that lined up in the 1000m juvenile maiden.
Carrying the Proven Thoroughbreds colours, Rubinocchi found the lead for Sam Clipperton and kept up a good gallop to the line to win by a length and three quarters, albeit racing a touch greenly over the last 100m.

A $45,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the draft of Valiant Stud for Proven Thoroughbreds / Joe Pride Racing, she was a successful pinhook having been bought by Richard McLenahan’s Mullaglass for $15,000 from the Fairhill Farm Inglis Weanling draft the year before.
Rubinocchi is the second winner from Tiger Eyes, a winning half-sister by Choisir to stakes-winner Speedy Leo from the family of Golden Slipper winner Star Watch and Group winners Graceful Anna and News Alert.
Rubinocchi is one of three winners on Thursday for Rubick, who relocates to Swettenham Stud this spring and stands at a fee of $27,500.
