Siblings to Stars MM National Yearling Sale

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 31

The three day Magic Millions National Yearling Sale begins on Tuesday at the Gold Coast featuring a large and diverse catalogue that includes several siblings to recent stakes-winners that have come along this year, so let’s take a look at them.

Lot 1494 Colt Exosphere x Personal Service, by Zabeel – Burke Bloodstock

Lot 1494 - click to see page.

Dam has had four foals to race and all are winners, so it’s not hard to think this guy will be number five! He is a half-brother to a horse that really stepped up during the Sydney Autumn Carnival in Think It Over.

The Kerry Parker trained So You Think gelding won the Group I ATC George Ryder Stakes and was fourth in the Group I Queen Elizabeth Stakes after missing a start in the Doncaster due to a travel mishap on the way to the track. This $1.5 million earner is on an upswing and could easily be a Cox Plate horse in the spring.

Robert Heathcote always has a very good horse in his stable and 2YO colt Prince of Boom is the new kid on the block winning the Group II BRC Spirit of Boom Classic at his second start. This colt is his half-brother and comes from a family that has produced it’s share of Queensland stakes-winners including Express Air and Diamondsondinside.

Lot 1415 Colt Sebring x Life in a Metro, by Fastnet Rock – Northmore Thoroughbreds as agent for Makybe

Lot 1415 - click to see page.

From the last crop of yearlings by Sebring, this colt is a half-brother to South African Group II winner Mount Pleasant and also progressive Deep Field mare Quantum Mechanic, who won the Group II MVRC Sunline Stakes and then came to Sydney to place in the Group I ATC Queen of the Turf and the Group II Emancipation Stakes. Not hard to see her as a Group I winner by the end of next season.

He also comes from the same family as Sebring’s dual Group I winner and $2.5million earner Nettoyer.

Lot 1688 Filly Zoustar x Beethog, by Shovhog – Widden Stud

Lot 1688 - click to see page.

First two foals from Group III winner Beethog are both winners and they include this season’s talented Zoustar filly Glistening, who won the Group II ATC Reisling Stakes at her second start and then went to the paddock following the Golden Slipper.

Glistening would be a perfect contender for the Darley Princess Series in the spring and this filly is her full sister.

Lot 1527 Colt Dundeel x Ritzy, by Medaglia D’Oro (USA) – Bhima Thoroughbreds

Lot 1527 - click to see page.

Second foal of a half-sister to dual Group I winner Fiveandahalfstar and importantly is a half-sister to current season juvenile Rhapsody Rose, who won the Listed BRC Bill Carter Stakes and was third in the Group III Ken Russell Memorial. She was a brave sixth in the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes last Saturday after leading, terrific filly that has already won over $170,000!

Lot 1544 Colt Sebring x Scorched, by Exceed and Excel – Lyndhurst Stud

Lot 1544 - click to see page.

Dam has had three to race all winners and the best so far is current season 2YO Scorched Earth, who closed out her current campaign with a dominant win in the Listed MVRC Valley Pearl beating couple of high priced colts. Looms as a filly that will really make her presence felt in the early spring 3YO sprints.
