Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 17

Last week we highlighted a Deep Field colt that impressed us at the Rosehill trials and Team Hawkes have wasted no time sending him around again, but at Warwick Farm this morning on the polytrack he was set a very different task.

At Rosehill, Sacred Field hit the ground running and went keenly all the way in front before eventually winning his 900m heat by five lengths.

This time in a 740m heat, he was asked to wait after jumping by Tommy Berry and did so, settling down back in the field near the fence.

When angled into the clear on straightening he surged to the line under a big hold to win running away by a length in 43.29 seconds.

Sacred Field as a yearling.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Darby Racing/De Burgh Equine from the Rheinwood Pastoral draft, Sacred Field is the first foal from Rites of Spring, an unraced daughter of dual Group I winning miler Sacred Choice.

Other 2YO heat winners were: Kalashnikov (Capitalist) and Arranmore (Astern).
