A mare bought from the Inglis Broodmare Sale last year for $65,000 has proven an inspired purchase with the foal she was carrying selling for $400,000 today.
Newgate Farm’s young gun Capitalist has had his fee increased from $44,000 to $99,000 on the back of his stunning first crop racetrack results with his weanlings in hot demand at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale on Thursday highlighted by a colt from Laylia that made $400,000 on Thursday.
Consigned by Middlebrook Valley Lodge, the half-brother to Group III winner Shamalia and stakes-winner Emperors Way was bought by Gall Bloodstock/ Peter Morgan.
Bred by Victorian breeder David Digney, the star colt is the seventh foal from terrific producing Redoute’s Choice mare Laylia, who has had four winners from five runners.
Laylia was extremely well bought for $65,000 by Jaquers Investments from the Newgate Consignment at the 2020 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale when in foal to Capitalist with this $400,000 colt the result of that mating.
Newgate sold the current yearling colt from Laylia, a colt by Flying Artie, at Magic Millions this year for $180,000 to the Racing League.
Laylia is now in foal to Blue Point (IRE).
