One to Watch – Cranbourne

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 16

Champion French based sire Siyouni has a great record in Australia and we saw an impressive debut juvenile winner for him at Cranbourne on Friday evening.

An $85,000 Inglis Ready 2 Race purchase for First Light Racing / Paul Willetts / Busuttin Young Racing from the Highlands Racing and Bloodstock draft, two year-old Siyouni filly See You in Spring was way too good for her rivals in the 1000m juvenile maiden.

Well educated by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, See You in Spring led for home and was never challenged in winning by more than a length.

“She’s got plenty of speed and plenty of attitude as well,” said co-trainer Trent Busuttin.

“She settled nicely when she did get to the lead and was strong through the line.”

Bred by Woodpark Stud, See You in Spring is a half-sister to French winner Colours and is the second winner from placed Shamardal mare Spring Colours (GB), whop comes from the family of European Horse of the Year and Champion Miler Goldikova.

See You in Spring was an $85,000 Inglis Ready 2 Race purchase.

Spring Colours has a yearling colt by Astern, a filly foal by Aylmerton and was covered last year by Pariah.

See You in Spring is the fifth Australian winner for Siyouni from six runners with those runners highlighted by Group II winner Aylmerton as well as Group placed See You Soon and Direct.
