Inglis Digital Bargain Heading for Brisbane

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 13

Cairns trainer Mark Dale bought an unraced three year-old filly from the 2019 Inglis Digital November (Late) Sale for $1,250 and what a great buy she’s turned out to be winning her fifth race from eight starts at Cairns on Tuesday.

Modernism won four races in a row at the end of last year before going for a well earned break and was having her second run back from a spell in a Benchmark 70 event over 1400m.

Sent out a hot favourite with Jake Bayliss on board, Modernism carried 58.5kg to score a dominant length win eased down on the line.

Bayliss said after the race he was confident the four year-old daughter of Master of Design would measure up to Brisbane racing with her trainer keen to give her a try down south.

Modernism slipped through the cracks twice before on Inglis Digital Sales before she was bought by Mark Dale, offered in 2018 when she made $3,250 as a yearling and then again in July 2019 when she made $500.

Modernism has already won over $50,000 in prizemoney and is the first winner for Warble, a More Than Ready (USA) winner, whose third dam is Group I winner Whisked, the dam of champion stayer Tie the Knot.

The family also features current star 3YO Cherry Tortoni.
