Coolmore Purchase $1.4Million I Am Invincible Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 7

Townsville based breeders Don and Judy Kelly are no strangers to the Inglis Easter sale ring having bought their Group I winning mare Cosmic Endeavour from Inglis Easter as a yearling in 2012 for $230,000 and they returned on Tuesday to sell her I Am Invincible colt for $1.4million.

Consigned on their behalf by Kia Ora Stud, the star colt attracted keen competition before being secured by Coolmore’s Tom Magnier, who will give the colt to Chris Waller to train.

Inglis's Jemma Cutting spoke to a very happy Don and Judy Kelly after the sale.

They have a small, but select group of mares based at Kia Ora Stud and have been enjoying the breeding game for about the past 10 years.

“It completes the dream for us. We bought his mother from Inglis Easter and raced her and kept her to breed with,” Don Kelly told Jemma Cutting.

“I was there when he had his first breath. We always try and come down when the mares are foaling.”

The $1.4million colt is bred on the same cross as exciting undefeated stakes-winning two year-old Najmaty, who is also by I Am Invincible from a daughter of Northern Meteor.

$1.4million I Am Invincible colt from dual G1 winner Cosmic Endeavour.

Cosmic Endeavour was a star for the Kelly’s winning over $1.4million in prizemoney with highlight wins in the Group I ATC Canterbury Stakes and Tatts Tiara.

Her first foal L’Cosmo is a good metro winner that was sold by the Kelly’s last year at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $460,000 and her second is unraced More Than Ready (USA) filly Andever More that is trained by Peter and Paul Snowden.

Cosmic Endeavour had no foal last spring after missing the previous year and was covered last year by Too Darn Hot (GB).

I Am Invincible has been the man of the moment at Inglis Easter this morning producing three individual yearlings to sell for $1million or more!
