Think It Over Scores Surprise Win in G3 Liverpool City Cup

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 27

A homebred for Bylong Park, progressive So You Think gelding Think It Over won the Group III ATC Craven Plate (2000m) last spring and showed he was ready to be a player during the autumn when resuming from a spell to win the Group III ATC Liverpool City Cup (1300m).

With most punters anticipating Think It Over would need a run or two to reach peak fitness, he went to the post at long odds, but produced a career best performance to win.

Tuned up with two recent trials by astute trainer Kerry Parker, Think It Over hit the front in the final furlong for Glen Boss and then held off a wall of challengers including race favourite Criaderas, who stormed home from last to grab second.

Think It Over started his career with John Sargent, but has blossomed with maturity and now has the overall record of five wins and eight placings from 21 starts with prizemoney in excess of $725,000.

“He’s always gone super first up, but I did think the 1300m in this grade might be a bit sharp for him, but he proved me wrong,” said Kerry Parker, who harbours loftier ambitions for Think It Over.

“I’m thinking G Boss and 50kg in a Doncaster sounds good!”

Think it Over might be a lightweight Doncaster hope!

Think It Over is the best of four winners from well bred unraced Zabeel mare Personal Service, a half-sister to Group I winners Universal Prince and Universal Queen.

Personal Service has a yearling colt by Exosphere.

Think It Over is one of six stakes-winners this season for So You Think, who has sired the winners of over $8million in prizemoney since August 1.
