Exciting
Pierro colt Levendi turned heads with his resounding debut win at Ballarat in
June and reappeared at Mornington on Wednesday to post another dominant win.
The Peter Gelagotis trained colt was sent out favourite for the Benchmark 64
event over 1200 metres and delivered an impressive win on the heavy ground.
He settled back in the field for Ben Melham and accelerated to the line to win with
authority by nearly two lengths.
Levendi is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas, a race in which his
sire finished second in 2012 and his grand-sire Lonhro won in 2001.
A $140,000 Magic Millions purchase for Manny Gelagotis from the Widden Stud
draft, Levendi was bred by long time Widden client Robert Anderson and is the
second winner for stakes-placed Redoute's Choice mare Lipari, a daughter of
Group I winner Tully Thunder.
Pierro's top class daughter Tulip returns to Sydney this weekend where she is
an acceptor for the Group II ATC Tea Rose Stakes.
