Extreme Choice Colt Super Impressive

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 13

The $150,000 ATC Pierro Plate (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday did not carry Black Type, but the winner Stay Inside looked like a certain stakes-winner in the making when he bolted clear to win by four lengths.

Trained by Richard and Michael Freedman, Stay Inside won easily on debut at Randwick last month and took another step forward with this dominant win under James McDonald.

The talented son of Extreme Choice chimed in with 300m left to run and accelerated away from his rivals to win as he pleased.

He’s the ultimate professional. I worked him Tuesday and he did it lovely, so I thought he would come here and do what he did.

“He’ll get to the Slipper, wet or dry and be hard to beat.”

Stay Inside is now two for two with nearly $180,000 in prizemoney and has been backed into $13 for the Golden Slipper.

Stay Inside is now a $13 chance in the Golden Slipper.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Freedman Brothers/Rick Connolly Bloodstock, Stay Inside was a successful pinhook having been bought originally from the Kingstar Farm draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $60,000.

Bred by Kingstar Farm, Stay Inside is the first winner for Nothin Leica Storm, a winning half-sister by Anabaa (USA) to the dam of stakes-placed Dinnigan and Pouting Lips from the family of Group I Caulfield Guineas winner Wonderful World.

Nothin Leica Storm has no yearling for the sales this year but did have a filly by Russian Revolution last spring.

Stay Inside looks a real rising star for Newgate Farm’s Extreme Choice, whose two year-old crop is a small one with just 48 to run for him this season.
