One to Watch - Geelong

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 7

Best known as the sire of Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign, Manhattan Rain relocated to Blue Gum Farm in Victoria in 2017, so his two year-olds this season are his first bred in Victoria and they include a brilliant debut winner at Geelong on Thursday.

A homebred for the Alderson family, the Cindy Alderson trained colt Jigsaw was sent out favourite for the 1135m maiden and gave his rivals a galloping lesson.

He dominated the race to lead all the way for Michael Walker and win by more than three lengths in a commanding victory over Flying Artie colt Artorius.

Jigsaw is the second winner from Demandz, a winning Lonhro daughter of stakes-winner Loaded Command.

Manhattan Rain has over 80 juveniles to run for him this season as he has proven popular with Victorian breeders since his relocation and Jigsaw may well be the first of many smart winners to come from this crop conceived on the back of She Will Reign’s Golden Slipper win.
