What Does a Good Snitzel Look Like?

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 4

As we head into the sales season every yearling buyer thinks they know what they are looking for, but do they? This new Breednet innovation seeks to shed light on what the best progeny of a sire looked like as yearlings so we can maybe learn a lesson going forward, this time we look at Snitzel.

The reigning Champion Australian Sire for the past four seasons, Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel is the dominant force in Australian racing and breeding.

From our data base of images we have put together a selection of Snitzel stakes-winners pictured as yearlings that offer some real insight into his offspring.

The best sire son of legendary sire Redoute’s Choice, Snitzel is very different to his father in terms of the type of yearlings he produces.

Unlike his father, who was bay dominant and stamped his stock unmistakably, Snitzel gets offspring that come in all shapes and sizes and every colour of the rainbow.

His stock are predominantly sprinter milers with Cox Plate winner Shamus Award his only Group I winner at a middle distance and many are precocious and early maturing with the consistent success of his two year-olds providing the cornerstone for his spectacular stud career.

Below are all the Snitzel Magic Millions yearlings with images currently uploaded, which ones are the stakes-winners of the future?
