Champion
sire Fastnet Rock is having a very strong start to the season with his three
year-olds and produced another impressive blueblood winner at Wodonga on
Monday.
A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum prepared by Mick Price,
promising filly Tagreeda finished second on debut at Cranbourne last month and was
having her second outing in the 1400 metre maiden.
She drew wide and covered ground in the run, but powered to the line to win by
two lengths in a dominant display.
A half-sister to Group III placed High Spirit, Tagreeda is the third winner for
Azumi, an unraced sister to champion filly Alinghi and stakes-placed producers
Slice of Paradise (dam of Beneteau) and Perfect Persuasion, the dam of last
week's promising winner Aonair, read about her here.
A $1.4 million purchase from the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for Tim Stakemire on behalf of the Sheikh,
Azumi has been a regular partner for Fastnet Rock and there is a two year-old filly
and yearling filly to follow Tagreeda by the Coolmore heavyweight.
Azumi had a change of pace last spring and was covered by Not a Single Doubt.
