Once again, Racenet was on hand to get the feedback from every rider after every race.

This is what the jockeys thought of their rides during the day.

POSITIVE PROBLEMS

Blake Shinn

I knew that Bjorn’s horse would be tough and fit so I rode it that way.

2nd

MARIQUITA

Rachel King (a1.5)

Made up a lot of ground but just ran out of time.

3rd

CAMBAGE

Christian Reith

Tough run. They probably went along a little bit quick for me but she toughed it out to the line.

4th

MIDNIGHT DELIGHT (NZ)

Kerrin McEvoy

She just hung in a little bit today. I’m suggesting she might want a bit more juice in the ground.

5th

HEARTLINGS

Lee Magorrian (a3)

Felt the ground.

6th

LANI GIRL

Tim Clark

Disappointing.

SUNCRAZE

Corey Brown

He’s still four different horses in 1200m. I don’t know if he saw a dead bloke at the 700m and skipped up the fence but the bloke on his outside was nowhere near him but he’s a nervous, silly horse. Slowly but surely I’m working him out. He’s a confidence horse. The more confidence you can give him the better he runs for you.

2nd

DON'T GIVE A DAMN

Kerrin McEvoy

Really strong effort. He wouldn’t lie down.

3rd

LEVEE BANK

Megan Taylor (a3)

Good effort.

4th

DELIVERED

Kathy O'Hara

Great effort. He hit the line good. Looking for seven furlongs next start/

5th

NORTHERN KNIGHT

Hugh Bowman

He’s a nice horse in the making. He would have learnt a bit today. He’s one to follow.

6th

MOSSMAN GORGE

Jay Ford

Very disappointing. I felt like he travelled well in front but he gave me nothing in the run to the line.

7th

RUTHLESS AGENT (NZ)

Tye Angland

He’ll improve off the run.

8th

FERNIEHIRST

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Just travelled way too hard and couldn’t sprint.

9th

WHY ME LORD

James Innes Jnr (a2)

We were on Suncraze’s back, just outclassed.

10th

HARVEST DREAM

Rachel King (a1.5)

Not a bad run, just very mentally immature.

QUICK DEFENCE (USA)

Brenton Avdulla

I thought he ran terrific the other day. I think that ride helped me ride him today. I just rode him quiet. I could have ridden him a little bit closer early but I was just going to get involved in the speed battle and I don’t think he appreciates that. He’s obviously going well ridden quiet. I let him come back and found the fence. He relaxed really well and got on the back of the right horses. I never exposed him from and when I really ripped in he found for me.

2nd

IMANUI

Christian Reith

Good run just couldn’t hold on long enough.

3rd

MAPMAKER

Adam Hyeronimus

Really good effort.

4th

ALWARD (IRE)

Hugh Bowman

He carried the top weight but I think the drop back in distance is what beat him today.

5th

ZAUNKONIG

Tye Angland

Got him to jump a bit better today, rolled forward. He needs another run.

6th

HUNTER JACK

Courtney Van Der Werf (a3)

He just lacked sprint in the straight.

7th

VAUCLUSE BAY

Corey Brown

I probably went too far back but he’s just lacking that punch he used to have.

8th

EGYPTIAN RULER

Rachel King (a1.5)

Just had no luck in running but finished off well.

9th

MEINER FRECCIA (JPN)

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Got shuffled back too far. Had a beautiful run in the race, the winner and the second horse were in front of me but he just dropped like a wet rag at the 600m and that was it.

10th

NAT KING CU

Tim Clark

Track is too hard.

Disappointing.

GOLD STANDARD

Joshua Parr

The horse has been physically good for a long time but mentally hasn’t worked out what to do so. He’s put everything together today and he’s won like a nice horse.

2nd

SANCTIONED

Hugh Bowman

Very pleased with him. First time he has been ridden quietly and it took me a while to get into a rhythm but once he did he raced really well and I’d expect a good showing from him next time.

3rd

ADDICTIVE NATURE

Tim Clark

He had a lovely run. He relaxed a lot better in the race but I feel he didn’t stretch out as well today on that firm track. He’s only in his first preparation and he has a bright future ahead of him.

4th

TRAPEZE ARTIST

Kerrin McEvoy

Ran well. First time at the trip so I just had to ride him to settle. The race got away from me when the winner dashed but I was doing my best work over the last furlong and a half.

5th

ACE HIGH

Tye Angland

Went well. They didn’t go as quick as I thought they would. It took him a while to balance himself but he hit the line strong.

6th

COLESBERG

Jason Collett

Just lacked a turn of foot.

7th

THE MISSION

Corey Brown

It didn’t look good but he was just really really fresh and when Tim Clark went to cross him down the back he hadn’t really got mobile and once he got mobile he was just too hard too strong first-up. He was disappointing but he did it all upside down. Now he has the edge off him he’ll run much better.

DEPLOY

Joshua Parr

I was confident. He is in fantastic form at the moment and the stable has him absolutely flying. I’m pleased to get on him today. What a pleasure it is to ride these horses that are going so well. It is a great job. We can often take it for granted.

2nd

EGG TART

Kerrin McEvoy

I was really pleased with her today. The leader was up and rolling and we were back off it so mathematically we couldn’t make up the ground but she’s given me a good feel at what is well short of her best trip.

3rd

EURO ANGEL (NZ)

Brenton Avdulla

She was terrific. She is coming out nice and relaxed and you can actually ride a race on her. She’s settling and she found the line well. I think she’s going to win a nice race.

4th

DIXIE BLOSSOMS

Corey Brown

She ran good considering the speed was solid the whole way. Her being first-up, they strung out, she had to chase a long way from home and she whacked away good. She will improve heaps.

5th

CANNYESCENT

Tim Clark

He had a nice run but just the way the race was run he had to sustain a long run and I think he prefers to be held up with a short sprint at them but he ran ok.

6th

GOOD PROJECT

Hugh Bowman

That was a good even run. He’s not quite up to the sharpness of these level of horses but I thought it was a good first-up run.

7th

MIGHTY LUCKY

Chris O'Brien

It’s gone good. The short trip didn’t really suit him. A bit further next start and a little of rain wouldn’t hurt him.

RAVI

Kerrin McEvoy

She’s a quality race mare. She’d just been fluffing the start, getting out the back and having bad luck. They were in good races and she wasn’t having the rub of the green.

"Peter and Paul just decided to get her out of the barriers better and get her into a better spot. She’s racing much more tractably now. She had a good run there and has shown a superior turn of foot. She has won nicely.

2nd

PERIZADA

Christian Reith

Very good run, nice mare, obviously she was stepping up in grade today but she was more than up to the task and gave me a great feel.

3rd

DAYSEE DOOM

Andrew Adkins (a0)

Great run, a bit nippy for her early, she came out a little bit more steady than normal, she finished off well and her last 100m was absolutely outstanding.

4th

MAGIC ALIBI

Jay Ford

She’s going super, drew well and we had a charmed run and attacked the line well.

5th

BONNY O'REILLY (NZ)

Jason Collett

Just having to do that little bit of extra work early to get up outside the lead probably just took away from her finish.

6th

OMEI SWORD

Hugh Bowman

We’ll give her a pass today but we’ll want to see good improvement next start.

7th

DANISH TWIST

Glyn Schofield

Ran well, didn’t have a lot of luck when we needed it.

8th

ALMIGHTY GIRL

Blake Shinn

I thought she ran well, had a nice run and she’ll take good benefit from that and she acquit herself well.

9th

HUSSTERICAL

Rachel King (a0)

Really good run first-up against this tougher company.

10th

GIBRALTAR GIRL

Adam Hyeronimus

I thought it was a respectable run, I think she just needs a little bit softer track. It’s quite firm today, so a bit softer track I think there’s no reason why she can’t win one of these mares’ races.

11th

DENMAGIC

Corey Brown

No luck again, she got trapped three-wide from an awkward gate. She covered a lot of ground and got forced out even wider on the home turn. She ran okay, but you can’t do that on this track.

12th

GHISONI

Brenton Avdulla

I probably expected a little bit more from her today, but she’s been off the scene for a while and she is obviously a very talented mare when right. I’ll leave it to James [Cummings] and his team to see where to next.

13th

ZENALICIOUS

Tim Clark

Went no good today.

MENARI

Joshua Parr

Look at the size of the horse. It is just phenomenal to ride an animal like this. His turn of foot is second to none. I banged him up outside of the leader simply because of the draw. I had to make a decision. I couldn’t come out half-hearted and linger around at the risk of being posted wide so I decided to go forward.

2nd

PARIAH

Blake Shinn

He ran really well, had a lovely run behind the winner. Travelled beautifully, just maybe the weight swing, Menari had 1kg difference, in saying that full credit to the winner he was too good on the day, but level weights at 1400m in the Golden Rose, it’s going to be an exciting race.

3rd

PERAST

Adam Hyeronimus

Respectable run he went well, probably just had to a little bit too much work early and that told in the finish. He’s run a very good race, if I had my time again I would still drive him out, he’s a cheeky bugger but he’s taking the right steps.

4th

KEMENTARI

Kerrin McEvoy

I was just guided by how he jumped and had a decision to make as to whether I went forward or came back and get some cover. Chose the latter and then we were just sort of back and out of the race. Couldn’t have done much more, no doubt he’s going to be suited by 1400m and further. It was a pleasing first-up run.

5th

SHOGUN SUN

Christian Reith

Really good run, he was just a little bit slow into stride today. Probably cost him a few lengths, but I thought he was really strong late. Really nice horse, just needs to do a bit of maturing. If they can get him in I wouldn’t be afraid of running him in the Rose.

6th

CHAUFFEUR

Brenton Avdulla

Happy with him, bit brighter today raced a bit more freshly, it’s just a track where it’s hard to run down the leaders, but I’m happy with him going to 1400m.

7th

INVADER

Hugh Bowman

Just a bit too fast for him, the pace was too strong and he’ll be more suited when he gets over a little bit further.

8th

DIAMOND TATHAGATA

Corey Brown

Little bit firm for my bloke today.

9th

TANGLED

Tye Angland

He needed that today, he travelled well but when they let down they were a bit strong for him.

3rd

ISORICH

Great run from him. Honest horse.

4th

SUPREME EFFORT

Lee Magorrian (a3)

He went great. We were a little bit further back then I wanted to be. I got beaten by the early speed but up to 1400m he’ll be hard to beat.

5th

TOP STRIKER

Jay Ford

It was an improved run on what he’s been doing.

6th

MANA

Hugh Bowman

7th

SUNNY VICTORY

Christian Reith

Good run. The space between runs just told at the end.

8th

GAMBLESTOWN (NZ)

Corey Brown

He actually ran well for the time that he’s had off.

9th

COGLIERE

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Very good run. Obviously, speed early with no blinkers on today. Settled back travelled well and attacked the line. His last 100m was his best which is exactly what I wanted to see. He’s in for a nice preparation.

10th

DENPURR

Kerrin McEvoy

We got back and couldn’t get back into the race. She might enjoy a bit further now.

11th

LAST WITNESS

Tim Clark

He couldn’t get into the race from back in the field and wide. He might want a little more give in the ground too.

12th

PRO CONSUL

Rachel King (a1.5)

A little bit flat today, probably needs a spell.

Good return, the horse gave me a good feel.

Every chance, good run.

8th

BUDDEROO KNIGHT

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

He ran well. I think next start over a mile I’ll bounce out and lead on the horse. He’s just a bit of a nervous around other horses.

9th

GALAXY WARRIOR

Rachel King (a1.5)

Really, really good run first-up just probably the awkward barrier didn’t help.

10th

EBENOS

Kerrin McEvoy

Just an even run.

11th

THE PHAROAH

Jay Ford

We had to do a bit of work but he did give it up quite quickly so he might have come to the end of it.

12th

Good run from him. Probably just wants further and a bit of give in the ground.
