Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 30

Four heats for juveniles at Randwick on Friday morning produced some interesting winners including two youngsters by first season sires Capitalist and Xtravagant.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Xtravagant colt Wilsons Prom improved on his first barrier trial outing back in September when he finished last of six.

This time he was more focused and jumped well before taking up the lead and was strong to the line in winning his 740m heat by the best part of a length under Regan Bayliss.

Wilsons Prom is the first foal of Group III placed Not a Single Doubt mare Emphatically.

A Champion 3YO by Pentire (GB), Newhaven Park based Xtravagant has had only one runner so far, but Wilsons Prom looks like he’s not far off being ready for race day.

Newgate Farm’s Capitalist already has a winner on the board in promising colt Captivant and the Damien Lane trained filly Snowdrop showed natural pace to lead and  kept up the good work under a hold to the line to win by nearly a length.

Snowdrop is a half-sister to two winners including smart 2YO winner Hinchbeast being from Shamrock Slipper, a half-sister to stakes-winner Interspersed from the family of Group I winner Wanted.

The other two juvenile heat winners were Athelric (2cExceed and Excel) and Hide Your Heart (2f Sebring).
