She arrived in Melbourne with the other members of the Ballydoyle racing team, but will return to Ireland to pursue her next career in the breeding barn.

Five year-old Magic Wand retires with the overall record of four wins and 11 placings from 28 starts and showed incredible toughness here last year in Australia finishing fourth in the Cox Plate and then tenth in the Melbourne Cup before winning the Mackinnon.

She is sure to make a big impact at stud as she comes from a sensational female family.

Magic Wand is a three-quarter sister to Group I winner Chiquita and her dam Prudenzia is a half-sister to stakes-winner English King, who was making news earlier today.

The Camelot three year-old smashed the record price for a colt in training at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale when fetching 925,000 guineas.
