Third Stakes-Winner for Belardo

Media Release - Monday October 5

Weekend racing saw yet another stakes winner for BELARDO (IRE) (Lope De Vega) as LULLABY MOON (IRE) added to her G3 placing last month, with a win in the Listed Redcar 2YO Trophy over 6f.

It’s not often you see a field of 21 take their place in the barriers and having blacktype form at her last start, LULLABY MOON started as the race favourite.  She travelled just behind the speed in the group that chose the middle of the track and, going head to head over the final stages, showed a great will to win to get up just before the line.

LULLABY MOON is the third stakes winner from BELARDO’s first Northern Hemisphere crop, joining multiple Group winner, ISABELLA GILES and G3 winner ELYSIUM in BELARDO’s tally of 8 winners to date.

If history is anything to go by, it's interesting to note that BELARDO has made the best start out of all of the stallions in his sireline, with more Group or Listed horses and more Group wins than LOPE DE VEGA, SHAMARDAL and GIANT'S CAUSEWAY at the same stage and, he's even outdoing his great grandsire, STORM CAT.

BELARDO is currently working his way through his fourth book of mares here at Haunui Farm at a fee of $10,000 + GST.

He has limited nominations still available so anyone considering him for 2020 should be in touch with Mark or Shannon to secure a booking.  Mark – 021 663 995, Shannon – 0212 855 513.
