One Out Of One for Flying Artie - Princess Bojack Magic Millions Bound

Mark Smith - Saturday October 3

A one-two for first season sires in the opening event over 1000m at Eagle Farm on Saturday with Flying Artie’s Princess Bojack leading home Star Turn’s luckless Stellar Magic.

The Michael Nolen-trained Princess Bojack looked the consummate profession jumping straight to the front under Michael Cahill to make every post a winner.

By contrast Stellar Magic was sluggish to begin and Ben Thompson found plenty of dead-ends before the Proven Thoroughbreds colour-bearer closed off promisingly to be beaten three-quarters of a length.

Headlander (Better Than Ready) was a further two and a half lengths back in third.

“We bought at the sales, she’s been in and out a couple of times and we brought her back in with the Magic Millions in mind,” Nolan said.

uo;She is small but nice and racey and she has been a good filly to train.

“We might give her a bit of a break now and see what we do.”

Princess Bojack a $50,000 Magic Millions Yearling

Purchased by her trainer for $50,000 out of the Murrulla Stud draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Princess Bojack is the second foal and first runner for the accomplished Testa Rossa mare Catseye Surprise whose dam Catseye Beach is a half-sister to the dams of Group III winners Fiscal Fantasy (Skilled) and Fair Trade (Danewin) from the famed Cotehele House (GB) branch of the Eight Carat (GB)  family.

Catseye Surprise has a yearling colt by Star Turn and was covered by Winning Rupert last Spring.

The Group 1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Flying Artie (Artie Schiller), who also placed in the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond, stands at Newgate Farm at a fee of $16,500 this spring..
