Debut Win for Blueblood Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 14
When your dad is High Chaparral (IRE) and your mum is a full sister to Fastnet Rock, it's not hard to think that a colt like this might be well above average.

Top Score as a yearlingA $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft, three year-old colt Top Score has been given plenty of time to mature by John Sargent and looked super promising on debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Allowed to settle early, he really only got going over the final furlong and produced a powerful late burst for Tye Angland to snatch a well-timed win in the 1100 metre maiden.

"He's a nice horse and hit the line strong," said John Sargent.

"He'll learn a lot from that. He's a work in progress and will just go through his grades. There is no rush with him."

Top Score is the fifth winner from Sarasota, a winning full sister to dual Group I winner and champion sire Fastnet Rock.
