Greg Polson previews Tuncurry Friday

Greg Polson - Friday September 8

Kris Lees has been a regular supporter of the Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club and punters have been able to share in the trainer's ability to take the right horses to the Mid North Coast track.

The Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club is a great story of dedication and community.

A committee was formed in 1980 with a dream to build a racecourse – read a history of the Club here and here.

It took 29-years before the Club conducted its first race meeting in January 2009 with the Club promoted to TAB status in August 2015.

Lees has a 35 percent winning strike rate at Tuncurry with a return on investment of 21.2 percent and even better with favourites with the winning strike rate 62.5 percent and a 56.3 percent return on turnover.

The support of Lee continues on Tuncurry Forster Cup Day with the stable represented in five of the eight races and is the trainer to follow one again.

Olympic Academy is the stable's representative in the day's feature, the A J Wilson Wholesale Food Distributors Tuncurry -Forster XXXX Gold Cup (2100m).

Olympic Academy is the class runner in Friday's Cup and will appreciate a substantial drop in grade.

Originally asked to lump 64kg, the 3kg claim for apprentice Louise Day brings Olympic Academy right into play.

The Lees stable has multiple representation in the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club Maiden Plate (1200m) with the improving Waimea Bay looking the top pick ahead of stablemate So You Merge.

Waimea Bay improved considerably at her second race start finishing just over two-lengths from the winner when fourth in a Beaumont maiden and rates as the day's best bet back to a country maiden.

Dreamscape three-year-old Herecomes Thefuzz goes to the races for the first time in the Club Forster Maiden Handicap (1400m) on the back of a close second in a Newcastle trial on August 16 and if the money comes on debut it would be a smart move by punters to follow.

Labrooke has been racing consistently without winning in provincial races in recent starts including placings at Hawkesbury ad Newcastle and looks well placed back to a country benchmark race in the Bellevue Hotel Benchmark 60 Handicap (1500m).
