Miracle Foal Brings Joy to Holbrook Thoroughbreds

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 15

Every foaling season brings stories of joy along with disaster and this story from Holbrook Thoroughbreds brings us a poignant mix of both.

The miracle foal!

Earlier this month, Julie Harris and her team had to go through a harrowing experience with blue-blooded Redoute’s Choice mare Antique Rose.

Owned by Bob and Sandra Peters, Antique Rose was a full sister to their star producers Broadway Belle and Arcadia, who are the dams of Group I winners Regal Power and Arcadia Queen.

Arcadia Rose was in foal to their sire Pierro, so she was carrying a full sibling in blood to that dynamic duo.

Sadly, she suffered a bad dystocia when foaling a filly, leaving both mare and foal near death.

The mare sadly passed away, but the team at Holbrook and the Scone Equine Vets (David O'Meara) were able to save the filly after she was rushed to intensive care at Scone Vet Clinic in the back of Julie’s ute.

Fast forward a week and the miracle filly is back at home and has bonded with a foster mum called Emily.

The smiles of the girls at Holbrook tell the story!

We look forward to following the career of this little girl, whose courage and will to live mark her as something special!
