Swettenham
Stud's Royal Ascot hero Equiano (Fr) featured on Wednesday with a smart winner
at Moonee Valley in Equinova.
Prepared by Dean Binaisse, Equinova has shown good improvement at each run this
preparation and proved too good for his rivals in forging clear to win over
1000 metres by a length and a half at his fourth start.
A modest $20,000 Inglis VOBIS Gold purchase from the Swettenham Stud draft for his trainer and 888 Racing,
Equinova has already won back his purchase price and looks to have a bright
future for his happy group of owners.
Equinova is the second winner for unraced Bianconi (USA) mare Tia Nova, who comes
from the family of stakes-winners Rubilda and Tracker.
A two-time winner of the Group I King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, Equiano
has sired over 40 winners including two stakes-winners in the Northern
Hemisphere and his oldest Australian progeny are just two year-olds.
Equinova is his second Australian winner, the son of Acclamation set to return
to Swettenham this spring at a fee of $13,750.
