It's
always nice to break the ice with a Black Type win and that's what happened for
two year-old More Than Ready (USA) colt Ready to Attack, who was successful in
the Group III Langerman Stakes at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Stepped up to 1500 metres at his third start, Ready to Attack powered clear to
win by a length and three-quarters.
Prepared by Justin Snaith, Ready to Attack was a $200,000 Inglis Easter
purchase from the Sledmere Stud draft for James Bester Bloodstock and runs for
Hassen Adams and Mr and Mrs Markus Jooste.
The 144th stakes-winner for champion sire More Than Ready, Ready to
Attack is the first winner for Group I winning Cape Cross (IRE) mare Gaze, who
lost a foal by Commands last year and was not served.
Ready to Attack was the second Aussie bred winner on the card with Stratum four
year-old Ntombe winning her third race earlier in the day over 1000 metres.
She was a $40,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Torryburn Stud draft for
Heritage Bloodstock and is a three-quarter sister to this season's handy metro
winning two year-old Skyclad from good producer Loulou.
Also breaking her maiden at Turffontein with a two length victory over 1600
metres was the Mike Azzie trained two year old filly Zappy Choice.
She was an $85,000 Magic Millions Naitonal Yearling Sale purchase for her
trainer from the Arrowfield Stud draft and is a half-sister to stakes-placed
Zarzali being the third winner from Zarakiysha (FR), an unraced half-sister to
Arc winner and European Horse of the Year Zarkava.
