Vale, Atlantic Jewel

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 20

Just days after the loss of 2015 Champion 3YO Filly Delicacy, Coolmore have reported the tragic loss of Atlantic Jewel after foaling to Triple Crown hero Justify (USA).

Coolmore's Tom Moore told ANZ Bloodstock News: "Sadly we lost the brilliant Atlantic Jewel last night when she haemorrhaged after foaling.

"It is very sad news but she did leave behind a cracking Justify colt who is doing well."

By champion sire Fastnet Rock, Atlantic Jewel raced for  Coolmore and partners including Laurie Macri and was the Champion 3YO Fillly of 2012 winning 10 races, four of them at Group I level.

Atlantic Jewel started her stud career in Ireland and from her first three foals to race there by Galileo produced two winners including this year’s Group III winning 3YO colt Russian Emperor.

Atlantic Jewel is seen by many as the finest Fastnet Rock to look through a bridle.
