Fastnet Double of Promising 3YO’s

Champion sire Fastnet Rock reeled off two blue-blooded three year-old maiden winners at Warwick Farm and Sandown on Wednesday.

Aonair as a yearlingA $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Michael Otto Bloodstock from the Yarraman Park draft, the Chris Waller trained filly Aonair broke the ice when cruising home to win over 1400 metres by more than a length beating the colts.

Placed at her first two runs when featuring in the steward's report after being checked in one race and slowly away in the other, Aonair appreciated a better run in transit to score an easy win carrying the colours of New Zealand breeder Terry Jarvis.

Foaled at Coolmore, Aonair (pictured below as a foal) is a sister to Group III placed Lady Sharapova and three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Papillon being the fourth winner from Group III placed Encosta de Lago mare Perfect Persuasion, a full sister to champion filly Alinghi.



Perfect Persuasion is due to foal to Golden Slipper winner Vancouver this spring.

Improving three year-old colt Wassergeist saluted at his third start winning a strong 1400 metre maiden at Sandown for the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable.

Ridden back at his previous two starts, Wassergeist went forward for Craig Williams to lead and kept going to win by more than a length.

A $240,000 NZB Premier purchase from the Lyndhurst Stud, Wassergeist was bred by SF Bloodstock and is the third winner from Group II winning Thorn Park mare Te Akau Rose.
