Magic Millions Can’t Start Soon Enough!

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday December 23
A Snitzel colt from the family of Black Caviar and a drop dead gorgeous Stratum filly from the family of Shooting to Win have this vendor champing at the bit to get to the Gold Coast.

"You've got to congratulate Magic Millions on their initiative," said Toby Liston of leading Victorian nursery Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.

"A $10 million race day is genius! Everyone will want to be a part of that and it starts with buying a yearling."

Three Bridges sold nine yearlings for $1.7 million at the 2014 Magic Millions and have another stunning draft heading to the Gold Coast after Christmas.

"We had a sensational sale last year and I'd say this year's draft is as good or better," Liston said.

An obvious standout is Lot 626, a Snitzel colt from Song of the Sun, by Desert Sun (GB)

From arguably the hottest family in Australia that features two superstar champions in Black Caviar and All Too Hard, not to mention Group I winner and successful sire Magnus! He is a half-brother to three winners from a stakes-placed three-quarter sister to Helsinge, the dam of Black Caviar and All Too Hard.

"Have a look at his pedigree and imagine what this colt could be worth if he performs up to his looks and page!" said Liston.

"His sire Snitzel gets them in all shapes and sizes, but this colt has a lot of Redoute's Choice about him and is a lovely individual."

Winning plenty of fans at the on farm inspections has been Lot 432, a filly by Stratum from the well -bred Zabeel mare Melbourne Rose (NZ), who was bought by Coolmore for $320,000 at the Teeley Assets Dispersal.

The filly is the second foal of a winning sister to Group I placed stakes-winner Berlioz from the Cotehele House branch of the Eight Carat family that has produced current stars Shooting to Win and his full brother Deep Field.

She is also bred on the very successful Stratum x Zabeel cross that has produced 18 winners from 25 runners led by stakes-winners Queenstown and Anlon.

"Paul Willetts bought her for us as a pinhook from the Teeley Assets Dispersal for $140,000 and she's just gone ahead in leaps and bounds," said Liston.

"Everyone that sees her loves her."

Three Bridges Thoroughbreds is home to young Fastnet Rock stallion Stryker, who is making a pleasing start to his stud career with three place-getters from his first four runners – two of them stakes-placed Miss Loren and She is Stryking.

There are three by Stryker in the draft this year and Lot 557, a filly from Group I winning Pentire (GB) mare Recurring is an eye-catcher.

"She's a half-sister to four winners led by brilliant stakes-placed Hong Kong sprinter Time After Time and her mother was top class," Liston said.

Three Bridges will also present these five stunning yearlings as seen below.

Lot 17 Filly Sebring x Voltdanze, by Danzero

Half-sister to stakes-placed So Detached from a winning three-quarter sister to Group I winner Dealer Principal. By a red hot young sire from a female family packed with Black Type offering serious residual value.

Lot 101 Filly Manhattan Rain x Beauty School, by Royal Academy (USA)

Three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Mount Zero and her full brother Rich Rupee has won at Strathalbyn since the catalogue went to print. Dam was a brilliant juvenile stakes-winner and her dam was by Vain, so a family with plenty of speed.

Lot 395 Colt Stryker x Live in Black, by Reset

First foal of a half-sister to Group IIII winning sprinter Live in Vain and slick stakes-winner Snort.

Lot 422 Colt Wanted x Margiela (NZ), by Redoute's Choice

Second foal of a winning half-sister to Group II placed Rahveel from stakes-winner Sarah Vee. By a son of champion sire Fastnet Rock from a daughter of champion sire Redoute's Choice.

Lot 840 Filly Stryker x Princess Pulse (NZ), by King of Kings (IRE)

Fourth foal of Group III winning grand-daughter of Sadler's Wells, whose only foal to race is a winner and her current two year-old, a terrific looking colt by Wanted, sold for $210,000 at Inglis Premier to Brent Stanley.
