Dam of Savanna Amour Booked to Visit Flying Artie

Top class mare Savanna Amour burst back to her best form at Caulfield on Saturday with a tenacious win in the Group III MRC Cockram Stakes, her dam Savanna La Mar a confirmed booking to visit Newgate Farm's brilliant Group I winning sprinter Flying Artie this spring.

Savanna Amour - Grant CourtneyA Group II and III winner last season as a three year-old filly, Savanna Amour has a myriad of Black Type options to look at during the spring and can doubtless add to her already impressive record of five wins from 11 starts with prizemoney topping $400,000.

"She is a great mare, she has a great action," said her trainer John Meagher.

"At Sandown (first run back from a spell) I was a little bit disappointed but he (Ben Melham) just said she didn't handle the ground at all."

"What we need to do, we need her to get 1600m. We will just have a look and just plan."

By leading broodmare sire Stravinsky (USA) from the family of Golden Slipper winner Marauding, Savanna Amour's dam Savanna La Mar is owned by SF Bloodstock and has been a regular visitor to Newgate Farm sires.

She has a yearling filly by Dissident and is due to foal to I Am Invincible's brilliantly fast son Super One.
