NZB Insurance Pearl Series Offers Exciting New Bonus

Media Release - Friday June 12

NZB Insurance in conjunction with NZTR are contributing further rewards to owners of NZB Insurance Pearl Series registered fillies and mares with a one-off incentive this July.

For the six remaining Pearl Series races of the 2019-20 racing season, NZB Insurance and NZTR will contribute a total sum of $3,000 to the owners of Pearl Series registered fillies or mares who finish second in any of the scheduled Pearl bonus races.

The additional second-place payment will be given out on top of the usual Pearl Series bonus that winners receive.

The below dates are for race meetings that will hold Pearl Series bonus races.

·       Canterbury JC - Fri 27 June

·       Waikato RC - Sat 4 July

·       Marton JC - Sat 4 July (at Awapuni)

·       Counties RC - Sat 25 July

NZB Insurance Advisor Jim Bruford is eager to further support owners through the incentive.

“We realise that over the past three months, owners have had to incur costs over the lockdown, despite being unable to race their fillies or mares,” he said.

“In partnership with NZTR, we want to acknowledge owners and the countless support we have received from them.

“We came up with the idea of a compensatory payment for registered horses who finish second in any Pearl Series bonus race.

“Having sponsored the series for seven years, we are delighted to further contribute to the fillies and mares racing program and are excited to see what’s in store for the coming month.”

NZTR Chief Executive Bernard Saundry fully backs the new complementary bonus.

“NZTR are pleased to support the one-off initiative and believe it is vital to recognise the contribution owners have made over the past few months,” he said.

Since its inauguration, the NZB Insurance Pearl Series bonus scheme has seen millions of dollars paid out to Southern Hemisphere-bred filly and mare owners, breeders, trainers and nominators making it an integral part of the New Zealand racing industry.
