$160,000 Lunar Light Tops MM Online

Media Release - Friday June 5

Group performed three-year-old filly Lunar Light topped the Magic Millions Online Sale (2-4 June) when she sold to Spendthrift Australia for $160,000.

One of the quality offerings as part of a Reduction Sale from Goldin Farms, Lunar Light was offered as a racing and breeding prospect and was the subject of strong bidding from interested parties.

A winner of three races in succession with trainer Will Clarken, Lunar Light earned black type when she was third in the Group Two Angus Armanaso Stakes at Caulfield in February.

Lunar Light, a daughter of Akeed Mofeed, is from the stakes winning Malibu Moon mare Lunar Mist and hails from a strong international family.

"She's a lovely filly," Spendthrift Australia General Manager Garry Cuddy said. "Her ratings on the track are quite good and it was a good opportunity to grab a nice pedigree."

"We're now working on whether we will try and win another race or two with her or she comes to the farm to be served."

"Malibu Moon needs no introduction and she's the perfect type of mare to send to either Omaha Beach or Vino Rossa," Cuddy added.

The top priced weanling of the day was Lot 36 - the Pierro filly from the French stakes performed Fastnet Rock mare Golden Fastnet. She sold to Dalanna Bloodstock for $90,000.

Late last night the five time stakes winning French mare Spinning Memories was offered as an elite racing and breeding prospect however she fell short of her $1.14 million reserve.

"In such a short amount of time the online platform for Magic Millions has come a long way," Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "Full credit to our team for making this possible."

"We must thank our vendors and buyers for supporting our first non-exclusive auction on the Magic Millions Online Platform."

"Following on from the recent Cornerstone Reduction and Rosemont Exclusive Sales the latest auction was very well received by sellers and buyers," Bowditch added. "It's pleasing to see such healthy demand for quality lots which was evident across the sale."
