173 for Redoute's Choice

Mark Smith - Saturday May 16

If anyone needed reminding that the last chapter of Redoute’s Choice is a long way off being written, the 3yo filly Oasis Girl gave another reminder when she stepped up to the plate in Saturday’s Listed Centauria Stakes (2030m) at Morphettville to credit Arrowfield Stud’s breed-shaper with his 173rd stakes-winner.

Ridden by Georgina Cartwright for trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Oasis Girl controlled the speed from in front and had enough in hand to defeat the 4yo Shocking mare Nerve Not Verve by a long-head with the 6yo War Chant mare La belle Jude one and a half lengths back in third.

A last start winner on a heavy track at Caulfield, Oasis Girl advances her record to 5 wins from 10 starts with earnings of $248,210.

A homebred for the Malloy family and partners, Oasis Girl is a half-sister to five winners including the listed winner Siwa Lady (Gonski) who is the dam of the stakes-placed Dissident gelding Reformist.

Oasis Girl is a sister to the ill-fated Brilliant Choice.  A $600,000 Easter Yearling purchase by Hawkes Racing, Brilliant Choice won two and placed in three of his five starts.

Oasis Girl’s dam Siwa (GB) has a yearling filly by Snitzel and was covered by Merchant Navy last spring.
