Riddle Me That Relives the Glory Days
It’s been a long time between drinks for six year-old Deep Field gelding Riddle Me That, who had not won a race since 2020, but he relived the glory days when taking out the $200,000 VRC Winter Championship Final (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
Widden Stud have enjoyed great results mining the Encosta de Lago sireline through his influential son Northern Meteor and current champion sire Zoustar, but you can always add more strings to your bow and securing the best son of Deep Field is a strategy that fits with an established pattern of success at this world renowned farm.

The 2021/ 2022 Australian racing season has brought continuing success on the track and in the sale ring to Widden Stud and our clients with the addition of new stallions this year holding promise for the future.
Group 1 sprinting son of Deep Field … won time honoured Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at 3 (emulating Snitzel, Fastnet Rock, Weekend Hussler, Starspangledbanner) … multiple Group winner & 2nd in Group 1 William Reid (featuring 8 individual Group 1 winners) … “a particularly good looking horse, a magnificent animal and definitely got the ride attitude” – trainer Matt Laurie.
