Carey fined $4000 for hitting another trainer

Mornington trainer Pat Carey has been fined $4000 for hitting a fellow trainer at trackwork in May.

Carey faced the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to engaging in improper conduct on May 15.

Carey admitted grabbing Trent Pennuto by the front of his clothing then pushing him into the horse stalls before striking the trainer with his right hand.

Carey has 60 days to pay the fine.
