Segenhoe Return to Inglis Premier

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 25

Leading Hunter Valley nursery Segenhoe Stud have returned to Oaklands with a quality draft of yearlings for Inglis Premier 2020 and the decision to venture back into the Victorian market was an easy one according to Stud Manager, Peter O’Brien.

“Last year we billeted some yearlings out to come down here and once we saw how well they sold we decided to offer them ourselves this year,” said O’Brien.

“We had no horses for Inglis Classic so have been able to focus on preparing these yearlings and Simon Vivian and his terrific bloodstock team combined with the new Oaklands venue made this an easy decision for us to make.”

This will be the first time Segenhoe have offered yearlings at this sale since the farm was purchased by the Maloney family and the prestigious brand is sure to be welcomed back into the marketplace.

Segenhoe is renowned as the source of Group I Royal Ascot hero Merchant Navy and additional Group I winners Manuel and Eagle Way as well as a string of current stakes performers.

Lot 26 Colt Hinchinbrook x Angel Bee (NZ), by Pins

Short precocious sprinter type. Fourth foal from Group III placed Angel Bee, who has had three foals to race all winners with her two year-old Vangelic (by Vancouver) a winner at Randwick on debut and running in a Listed race at Flemington on Saturday.

Lot 50 Filly Sooboog x Bella Sunday, by Sunday Silence

Beautiful filly bred in the purple as a half to Group I ATC Flight Stakes winner Oohood from Not A Single Doubt family. We love the stallion and she is a great advertisement for him.

Lot 165 Filly Pride of Dubai x Fitna, by Fastnet Rock

A strong filly who could have made Inglis Easter easily. Her two year old half-sister Avenue of Pleasure (by I Am invincible) is now stakes placed and this filly will fly.

Lot 185 Colt Sebring x Glenbawn Dame, by Shamardal (USA)

By Sebring out of a Shamardal mare so his head is true to type and no surprise. He is a magnificent colt and a real runner from a top class Black Type family.

Lot 299 Filly I Am Invincible x Mefnooda, by Medaglia D’Oro (USA)

A queen who traces back to Group III winner One World and celebrated producer Prawn Cocktail from the family of champion sires Royal Academy and Storm Cat. I know this family intimately and this filly reminds me so much of what the good ones look like in the family.

Lot 436 Colt Pride of Dubai x Slippery Rose (USA), by War Front

This colt is more like his dad and reminds me of him in so many ways at the same age. Quality, strength and action with a mind to die for. I actually want to back him for the Slipper now if anyone is keen!
