Tromso Makes it 41 for Lonhro

Mark Smith - Thursday November 7
The Chris Waller stable is unstoppable at the moment, three wins at Flemington on Thursday was backed up at Hawkesbury as Tromso ended a 15-run losing streak in the $100,000 Listed Lander Toyota Ladies Day Cup (1400m).

In a deceptive finish, Tromso nosed out Ninth Legion to earn his first stakes victory at his 39th start.

The 7yo gelded son of Lonhro takes his overall record to 6 wins, 10 seconds and 2 thirds and has certainly paid his way with earnings of $496,750.

Bred by Warren Taylor, Tromso was led from the ring unsold when he failed to make his $150,000 reserve at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling sale.

Tromso is the third foal of Listed Gold Stocking Stakes winners Feelers (Quest For Fame) who was purchased by Rosemount Stud for $26,000 at the 2012 Inglis Easter Broodmare sale when carrying a colt foal by Northern Meteor.

Feelers is a granddaughter of the top-class mare Tidal Light a 3-time Group 1 winner and NZ Horse Of The Year.

Tromso became the 41st Stakes winner for Lonhro who is standing at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000.
