Runner-up in the Group I VRC Oaks as a three year-old, eye-catching Stratum mare Greysful Glamour broke the ice to post her first stakes victory in the Group III MRC Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Prepared by Mark Newnham, Greysful Glamour was set for a first up win with two recent trials under her belt and led all the way for Tim Clark to score a stylish length victory.
“She doesn’t like to be cluttered up so is better leading or sitting outside the leader,” said Clark.
“Mark had her very forward for this race as he said four of the past five winners had led and won and he thought it was the right race for her. He had a plan and it was well executed.”
A $90,000 Inglis Easter Session II purchase for Darby Racing / De Burgh Equine from Edinglassie Stud, Greysful Glamour has four wins and six placings from 22 starts and has won over $500,000 in prizemoney.
The 44th stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s much missed Golden Slipper winning sire Stratum, Greysful Glamour is blessed with a stout staying pedigree on her dam side.
Greysful Glamour is a half-sister to Group III placed Celestial Falls and is the first foal of Rippled (GB), a minor winner by classic sire Dalakhani from a daughter of Sadler’s Wells. The family features many European Black Type winners including high class stayer Libran (IRE), who was second in the Group I ATC Sydney Cup.
The current yearling from Rippled is a Hinchinbrook colt that will be offered at Inglis Easter by Edinglassie Stud as Lot 161.
Rippled has a weanling filly by Pierro and was covered last spring by Dundeel.
