$370,000 Nicconi Colt a Classic Winner

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 10

It was a good day at the office at Inglis Classic on Monday for Nature Strip’s sire Nicconi, who delivered the second highest priced horse so far at this sale when his colt from Poison Ivy fetched $370,000 for Newhaven Park.

A powerful well-made bay very much in the mould of his sire, the half-brother to stakes-winner Lotion and four other winners was bought by Andrew Noblet Racing.

“I liked a lot about him. He’s very athletic, was a good mover and loose walker,” said Andrew Noblet.

“I trained his half- sister and had a very good opinion of her, but unfortunately we lost her at the end of last year, so I was very keen to get another one out of the mare into the stable.”

That half-sister was High Chaparral (IRE) filly Indigo Lass, who won two of four starts.

Nicconi also provided a great result for Holbrook Thoroughbreds who sold an eye-catching colt with a strong resemblance to Nature Strip from Ratatat Lass for $130,000 to Shane Nichols.

“The stallion can throw a very  quick horse as you will see on Saturday when Nature Strip runs in the Lightning and I’ve been wanting to buy one for a few years, but hadn’t found one with quite the pedigree and type I was looking for until now,” said Shane Nichols.

Nicconi has had  100% clearance during the first two session of Inglis Classic and you can see how his stock have sold and what will come tomorrow here.
