One to Watch – Belmont

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 26
Bob and Sandra Peters are among the most successful breeders in the country and they produced a debut two year-old winner at Belmont on Wednesday by champion sire Redoute's Choice that has all the hallmarks of being a real star for them next season.

Trained by Grant and Alana Williams, Perfect Jewel was a short priced favourite and made light of the heavy conditions to win the 1200 metre juvenile event running away by two and a quarter lengths.

Redoute's ChoiceIt was a thoroughly impressive victory and comes on the back of two recent barrier trial wins at her only prior outings, so Perfect Jewel is truly perfect!

Bred to be a superstar, Perfect Jewel is a full sister to stakes-winner Royal Star and half-sister to Group II WATC Perth Cup winner Star Exhibit being from stakes-winner Star Encounter, a daughter of Melbourne Cup winner Jeune (GB).

Star Encounter produced a colt by Star Exhibit's sire Statue of Liberty (USA) last spring and is due to foal to him again.

Champion sire Redoute's Choice already has 149 stakes-winners on the board and Perfect Jewel looks a great candidate to add to that in 2017/2018.
