$580,000 for Temperament and Attitude

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 8

Respected bloodstock James Harron struck early at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Wednesday securing Lot 19, a powerful son of Zoustar, whose attitude and temperament marked him as something special.

Lot 19 made $580,000 to the bid of James HarronConsigned by Widden Stud, the colt from Group III placed Stratum mare Via Laurentina fetched $580,000.

“I loved the way he handled the sale and held his condition and even put some on,” said Harron in his post sale comments.

“Attitude and temperament are so important when you want to keep these colts intact.”

Nobody knows this fact better than James Harron, who purchased Capitalist from this sale ring in 2015 for $165,000.

He won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Golden Slipper before retiring to Newgate Farm and his first yearlings are a highlight of the sale this year.

Last year, Harron outlaid $1.4million on Redoute’s Choice colt King’s Legacy and he will run among the top fancies in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday.

This Zoustar colt features a fascinating pedigree that has a double up of champion sires Redoute’s Choice and Encosta de Lago.

Widden Stud have kept Via Laurentina busy with their own sires and she has a filly foal by Your Song and was covered by Nicconi last spring.
