We Can’t Wait to See – Lots 500 - 600 MM 2020 – Nicks That Click

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 16

Our ‘Nicks that Click’ stories are some of the most popular on Breednet so we thought in the lead up to Magic Millions and before the majority of yearling images are uploaded we’d assess the pedigrees and see what jumps off the page as a horse we just can’t wait to see!

The following horses are selected with no consideration to vendor or type and strictly appeal from what is on the page.

Lot 513 Colt Vancouver x Marielle, by Lonhro – Gainsborough Lodge

With his oldest progeny just two year-olds it’s not possible to know what accurately works with Vancouver at this point, however we do know plenty about his sire Medaglia D’Oro, who shuttled to Darley so has covered quite a few Lonhro mares with good results.

He has had 16 named foals bred this way, 13 have raced and 10 have won with four stakes-winners at a 30.7% stakes-winner to runner rate headed by Group II winner Tenley. Add to that the quality of this family that has produced champion sire I am Invincible and it’s an attractive page.

Lot 534 Colt Denman x Miss Chaski (USA), by Gone West – Torryburn Stud as agent

This colt is a full brother to stakes-winner Deja Blue, so the mating is proven and this colt is the only other time she’s been back to Denman and is also her last foal as she died this year.

Breednet readers may recall us writing previously about the success of the Lonhro x Night Shift (USA) nick and this horse is an example. There have been 27 winners from 38 runners bred this way and six are stakes-winners headed by G1 winners Mental and Beaded at a 15.7% stakes-winners to runners.

Lot 540 Colt I Am Invincible x Miss Interiors, by Flying Spur – Torryburn Stud

The I Am Invincible x Flying Spur nick is going along quite nicely with 28 winners from 39 runners including four stakes-winners headed by G2 winner Pure Elation at a 10.2% stakes-winner to runner strike rate.

Also interesting the performance of I Am Invincible with mares carrying the very good broodmare sire Stravinsky (USA), who is sire of the grand-dam of this colt.  There have been eight winners from eight runners bred this way including two stakes-winners and this season’s exciting 2YO Dame Giselle, who won the $1million Golden Gift.

Dam is a half-sister to dual G1 winner Russian Revolution, so it’s an A grade stallion making family going back to Fanfreluche.
