Savabeel colt Addictive Nature was one of the headline acts of the sale ring at Karaka 2016, and he is showing the same star quality on the racetrack.
Bought for $775,000 at the 2016 Premier Sale, Addictive Nature picked up his second win from three career starts in Saturday's A$150,000 Group 3 Monaco Cup Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Rosehill, with the promise of a lot more to come.
Ridden by Tim Clark for expat New Zealand trainer Bjorn Baker, Addictive Nature went straight to the front of the small but high-quality field but was pressured all of the way.
He faced another challenge in the straight as the previously unbeatenAssimilate(Sebring) charged at him down the outside, but Addictive Nature fought back and held on for a determined victory.
"That was a very good effort," Baker said. "He's still doing things a bit upside-down, but he's got a lot of untapped potential.
"He's always shown a lot. He was a high-priced yearling, and he's as good-looking a horse as I've ever been involved with. We're lucky to have a horse like this in the stable, and we're yet to see the best of him.
"I was involved with a horse called Lion Tamer when he won this race a few years ago, and I'd like to think he'll go on to be the same sort of calibre."
Addictive Nature was bred by Little Avondale Stud and is out of the Carnegie mareGenerous Nature. She is the dam of three winners from five foals to race, withSavvy Nature(Savabeel) a Group 2 winner, Addictive Nature now a Group 3 winner andSir Ferrari(Testa Rossa) a stakes placegetter.
Little Avondale Stud offered Addictive Nature at the 2016 Premier Sale, where he sold to Ultra Thoroughbred Racing for $775,000.
Raced by Mr PS Buckley, Mr A Kheir and Dr TJ Koenig, Addictive Nature has now had three starts for two wins and a second, earning A$126,950 in prizemoney.
