The Group III VRC Carbine Club Stakes is run at Flemington this afternoon and seven years ago the winner of that race was the Bart Cummings trained Lunar Rise and what an interesting life he’s had.

A $380,000 Inglis Easter Yearling purchase, Lunar Rise has had an interesting life!Purchased as a yearling at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Duncan Ramage of DGR Thoroughbreds for $380,000 from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, Lunar Rise was the most expensive yearling sold that year by his sire Starcraft, who won five Group I races in four countries (Australia, New Zealand, France and the UK) including the Australian Derby.

His mother Spirited Dancer (IRE) is a blue-blood by world champion sire Sadler’s Wells and her only three foals to race are all stakes horses. Her family has produced champions like Peintre Celebre and the current European Champion Stayer Stradivarius.

Lunar Rise proved a talented and successful racehorse winning over $570,000 in prizemoney with the Group III VRC Carbine Club Stakes his biggest win.

He retired sound at the end of a 40 start career in September 2017 and after spelling at Lime Country Thoroughbreds joined the team at Daybreak Farm in March 2018 to begin a new career as a showjumper.

Lenny is jumping competitively in the 90 -1m classesDaybreak Lunar Rise aka Lenny has had a very busy and successful year learning his new career jumping in TSHA classes at shows around NSW being ridden by Jack and Jasmine Haynes.

He is currently enjoying a month off at Bell View Park before he competes at his final shows of the year at Sydney Jump Club at Clarendon and SIEC for Summer Classic.

Thoroughbred Sport Horse Association classes have created an outstanding pathway for thoroughbreds to continue a new life giving their owners a great opportunity to compete at big shows for good prizemoney.

The Hunter Valley Showjumping Championships are this weekend - with the TSHA classes being sponsored by Breednet.

The (22nd to 24th Nov) is the Stonewall Showjumping Weekend - Gail Waterhouse-Adrian Bott Racing are sponsoring along with local trainer Ben Blay with racing being major sponsors of the TSHA classes.

30th Nov and 1st Dec are the Sydney Showjumping Club Championships - Freedman Brothers Racing and Cooper Racing are the TSHA sponsors.
