"Creating a Career Beyond Racing" at Friday's Thoroughbred Sport Horse Association classes at the 2019 NSW State Showjumping Championships - where are the ABC cameras when there are positive stories about thoroughbreds living a rewarding and productive life after racing.
Lunar Rise aka “Lenny” was a very good racehorse whose overall career earnings exceeded $570,000. This is Lunar Rise’s first year of competitive show jumping but he is already a model of consistency. He was also recently the pool horse for Tiarna Newbold competing for the WA team at the Australian Interschool Championships. Tiarna in turn was placed on her own TB, Mr Magnificent in the TSHA sponsored classes at the Patrons Cup WA last weekend.
Another very successful horse competing on Friday was Liberator. Liberator was a Group 1 winner who won over $9m HKD and was crowned champion stayer of Hong Kong in the 2011/2012 season. Once his racing career in Hong Kong was finished, he was bought back to Australia to be re-homed.
This is only Liberator’s second show with his new rider Oliver Rickards and like “Lenny” he is proving how versatile these wonderful thoroughbreds are..
NSW State Titles in Canberra features a great number of throroughbreds in action across all rings this weekend, why not see how these thoroughbreds are living their post racing lives!
