Champion Sire Power Highlights Aquis 2YO Draft

Tara Madgwick - Thursday October 10
Champion sire power is the key defining factor of the Aquis Farm draft with over 20 lots to be offered at the 2019 Magic Millions 2YOs In Training Sale at the Gold Coast next week.

Each horse has been through the world-class Aquis pre-training facility at Canungra under the watchful eye of Kacy Fogden, the same training system that has produced some top class stakes-winners in recent years including Dubious, Lean Mean Machine, Fundamentalist, Doubt Defying and Sesar.

A dedicated website for the Aquis MM 2YO's in Training Sale draft has been established featuring conformation images, breeze up videos, in training videos, walking videos, heights, weights, vet reports and comments from Kacy Fogden providing the ultimate one stop shop with everything a prospective buyer may find useful in assessing these lovely youngsters.

Lot 67 Holy Roman Emperor colt from Montoya HeightsSires represented include world renowned Holy Roman Emperor (IRE), a noted Champion Sire in Hong Kong that is best known in the region for producing much admired Designs on Rome, the 2013/2014 Hong Kong Horse of the Year and four-time Group I winner, who was also 2013/2014 Most Popular Horse and 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 Champion Middle Distance Horse.

Aquis will consign seven colts by Holy Roman Emperor, who shuttled to Aquis in Queensland with great success for the past three seasons.

His stock are renowned for their versatility and he consistently produced top class sprinters and stayers with Lot 67 from Montoya Heights, a New Zealand bred daughter of High Chaparral (IRE) appealing as a colt that may ultimately have Hong Kong Derby appeal given his stout Kiwi female pedigree.

"This colt has been a fast maturing type throughout his preparation, indicating that he is going to continue to keep on improving," said Kacy Fogden.

Lot 22 Street Boss colt from Je'TaimeDarley's proven Group I sire Street Boss (USA) is another with huge appeal for the Hong Kong market as the sire of Rapper Dragon, who won eight from 13 starts in HK and was the first horse to sweep the Hong Kong four-year-old series (Classic Mile, Classic Cup and Hong Kong Derby) to be crowned HK Horse of the Year 2016/2017.

With 100% winners to runners in Hong Kong, Street Boss is the sire of Lot 22, a strapping bay colt from Je T'Aime. He is a half-brother to a smart winner from the family of Group I VRC Oaks winner Arapahos Miss.

"A very nice and ready made quality 2YO. Good horse with plenty of substance who looks an exciting proposition," said Kacy Fogden.

Lot 106 Denman colt from Red MagnumDenman is another sire that has made his mark in Hong Kong notably through brilliant sprinter Hot King Prawn. A stylish winner of the Group II Jockey Club Sprint – defeating Group I winners Mr Stunning and Beat The Clock (Crowned Champion HK Sprinter last season), Hot King Prawn has an average winning margin of two lengths from his nine wins to date.

The Aquis draft features two colts by Denman including Lot 106, a well conformed colt from unraced Domesday mare Red Magnum, who comes from the family of Group I winner Benfica, who is by Denman's sire Lonhro.
