Aquis Farm has confirmed they have acquired a controlling interest in the Gr1
All Aged Stakes winner and The Everest favourite Pierata to stand the 2020 stud
season at Aquis Farm in the Hunter Valley.
A winner of the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes in a blistering time of 1:20.64, Pierata's
form this season has been nothing short of sensational, recording the fastest
last 600m sectionals in both the Gr.3 Concorde Stakes (31.61) and also in his
subsequent victory over The Everest contenders Classique Legend and Redzel in
the Gr.2 The Shorts (33.31), where Pierata achieved a Timeform Rating of 126,
the highest mark of any horse currently racing in Australia.
Sensational in winning the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes on the final day of the Sydney
Autumn carnival at Royal Randwick, Pierata's form throughout his career has
been outstanding; a city winner and Gr.2 placed at two, Magic Millions Guineas
success and runner up in the Gr.1 Randwick Guineas at three, while at four his
wins in the Gr.2 Missile Stakes and Gr.3 Sydney Stakes were coupled with Gr.1
placed efforts in the VRC Sprint and the Galaxy Handicap culminating in the All
Aged Stakes.
The best son of Champion Pierro, who is in turn the
best son of Champion Lonhro, who is in turn the best son of Champion Octagonal
– Pierata is a Champion in the making, coming from four generations of
outstanding Gr.1 class, the legacy of building outstanding bloodlines.
Out of the Gr.3-winning mare November Flight, a daughter of Gr.1 Golden
Slipper winner and Leading Broodmare Sire Flying Spur, Pierata is one of four
Gr.1 winners for his sire, and the only at the elite level to perform
consistently over a sprinting trip, making him an ideal stallion proposition in
the marketplace that demands speed.
"We have been watching Pierata for some time now, and as the only Gr.1-winning,
sprinting son of a future Champion Sire, we felt he epitomises everything that
Australian racing is built on," stated Aquis CEO Shane McGrath.
"A winner and Gr.2 placed at two, with Gr.1 performances at three and four,
Pierata has continued to improve throughout his racing career, and we are
excited for what the future holds."
Prior to retiring to stud, the focus for Pierata will be on The Everest. All
future racing plans, including a possible international campaign are under
significant consideration by the partnership.
"With a stud career beckoning, Pierata's racing ability
coupled with his significant black-type pedigree, will clearly see the son of
Pierro as the hottest prospect to retire to the Hunter Valley for some years."
"Aquis will support him heavily by sending many of our best mares, but no doubt
he will also receive significant support from all breeders."
