Vale, Donna Love

Media Release - Thursday October 3

We are very sad to announce the passing of Donna Love, wife to Rob, mother to Bailey, Emily and Alana and grandmother to Evie, who passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday 30th September.

Donna and Rob LoveA devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a double transplant survivor and passionate racehorse owner/breeder, Donna was an inspiration to us all and will be tremendously missed.

The Love family's iconic silks have been a regular fixture throughout Australia, most notably through the win of Shamal Wind in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate of 2015, while they have also been involved in racing as part-owners of the likes of Group 1 Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, Horse of the Year Dissident and as a part of the slot in The Everest which selected the inaugural winner Redzel.

Later this month the Love family will be the first owners to have a runner in both The Everest, through being involved in the JHB slot, and in The Kosciuszko, as their filly Notation will run for trainer Matthew Dale and slot holder Rodney Thompson.

The funeral will be held at 12:00pm on Monday 7th October at Caulfield Racecourse, with parking in the Maple Members' Car Park, entrance through Gate 2, off Station Street. All are welcome as we say goodbye to Donna at the scene of one of her greatest racing triumphs, with all requested to attend inGroup 1 racing attire.
