Back to Black Type for Sunlight Sister

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 25
Stakes-placed earlier this year in Adelaide, three year-old Zoustar filly Sisstar has taken a little longer to hit winning form than her famous older sister Sunlight, but a dominant victory at Flemington on Wednesday has her on track for a return to Black Type racing.

A full sister to triple Group I winner Sunlight, Sisstar is also prepared by Sunlight's trainer Tony McEvoy and showed a glimmer of her sister's ability when scoring a six length maiden at Murray Bridge earlier this month and confirmed that potential with her easy length and a quarter win today over 1000 metres.

"I was impressed with this filly today," said Tony McEvoy.

"She has a bit of an awkward style and has a lot to learn, but she relaxed a little in the middle stages and gave a good kick, so it was impressive.

"We can now look to step her out a little bit in distance and return to Black Type."

A $600,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/David Redvers Bstock, Sisstar is the fourth winner from Group III winner Solar Charged joining not only $4.3 million earner Sunlight , but also Group III placed Sheikha.

Widden Stud sold a Sebring colt from Solar Charged at Inglis Easter this year for $650,000 and she has a yearling colt to follow by Sunlight and Sisstar's sire Zoustar.
