One to Watch – Belmont

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 18
Bob and Sandra Peters have had phenomenal success with their homebreds including current superstar mare Arcadia Queen, but it was a filly they purchased from Inglis Easter that caught our eye as a ‘One to Watch’ on Wednesday at Belmont.

Tuscan Queen as a yearlingThree year-old Fastnet Rock filly Tuscan Queen was a hot favourite on debut in the restricted race over 1300 metres and duly saluted for Grant and Alana Williams, who put the polish on Arcadia Queen before she came across to join the Chris Waller stable.

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of Mr and Mrs Peters, Tuscan Queen is the third winner from three foals to race from Group III winning Zabeel mare Tavarnelle.

Bred by the Crismale family’s Matrix Bloodstock, Tuscan Queen keeps the record perfect for Tavarnelle, who has a yearling filly by American Pharoah (USA).
