Grandview Stud Stallion Parade and Open Day

Media Release - Thursday August 24
Grandview Stud is pleased to welcome horse racing and breeding enthusiasts along to an open day for their 2017 Stallion parade.

Morning tea will be held at their beautiful property at Peak Crossing, just an easy drive from Gold Coast and Brisbane on Sunday, 3rd September from 10am – 12pm.

Michael Grieve, Stud Principal, is excited to present 'Under the Louvre' in his first Stallion Parade since his arrival at Grandview Stud earlier this year.

WhittingtonNaturally enough, Michael is thrilled with getting Under The Louvre on board where he'll stand his first season alongside proven sire, Jet Spur, and the promising Tale of the Cat stallion, Whittington, at his 230 acre, all-service property near Ipswich.

His former trainer, Robert Smerdon said "Under the Louvre had incredible acceleration…He mixed it with the best and won in the Stradbroke where he faced nine Group One winners including Black Heart Bart.

As Grandview prepares for an exciting period on the farm, they have now positioned themselves as one of the leading QLD-owned and operated studs. It is a great opportunity to come out and see these Stallions up close and it is also a chance to view the recent high quality progeny who will also be on display.

Excitement surrounding the upcoming first season of 'Under The Louvre'

"Under The Louvre is arguably the most exciting racehorse to enter stud in Queensland for many years," Michael points out. "Not only did he win the Stradbroke, but he also raced against and beat the best in Melbourne too. He was very adaptable"

"Under The Louvre is a tremendous individual…He never 'bulked up' like a lot of entires and has a terrific nature – he is great to deal with.

Michael went on to say "If he can throw that explosive turn of foot, athleticism and temperament into progeny, I believe he's a very good stallion prospect."

"Under The Louvre is the best performer by Group One winner, Excellent Art, who only stood a few seasons in Australia, but he is, in turn, a son of the outstanding speed influence, Pivotal".

Under the LouvreStanding, at one stage, for the equivalent of A$150,000 in Europe, Pivotal produced over 130 stakes winners and that was just from being based in the one hemisphere.

Another interesting aspect to Pivotal is that, when matched up with Danehill, he is running at a massive 18% stakes performers to runners. So, Under the Louvre - being totally free of Danehill, offers a rare outcross for breeders. With a heavily Danehill influenced breeding market, this presents a very exciting and rare opportunity.

We look forward to hosting our 2017 Stallion Parade and seeing you all there!
